I have a friend who has purchased one, and was curious what its potential is.
What top speeds have you had yours to. ( Indicated speed of course )

I have seen 176 mph on mine with the mod's I have done. thats just slip-on yosh's,PCIII,and the airbox. now I have donemore but thats all for looks nothing to th motor. 
they have real good bottem end power thats what makes the bike so fun to ride at 4.5 to 5 on the tac. she will lift so easy [] Is it an '06 or '07 ?

pulled 182 mph today thats when the bike hit red line and shuts down

you guys do know the faster you go the more inaccurate you speedo is.if your speedo say's 180 your probably off by about 20 mph.

He's right. The speedo isnt reading right at those speeds I hit 274km/h with my 750 but i know that cant be right.

now have you changed the gearing on your bike ?
it is off some, but not no 20 mph. I've ran with a lot of bikes and also used my gps unit and the speedo is off about 2 mph at 130 by my gps unit so with that I would say maybe 8 +/- at 182. I'm thinking about useing the radiar gun to see what I'm doing at like 150/160 mph.

The speedo is way out at those speeds, although tyres can and will make a difference to the speedo error. I got a genuine (timing lights confirmed) 147.4mph at Elvington runway on my Z750 (not bad for a naked and that was perfect conditions, no winds, dry tarmac.
More to the point, the speedo was fluctuating around the 167mph mark as I went into the timing lights. When my bike was on the dyno it hit the limiter at 169mph if I remember correctly.
Hardly any of the supersports 600's there got out of the 150s. The only bikes getting around or beyond 170mph were Busa's and the odd GSXR1000. A guy there on a z1000 was getting around the 152mph mark and said it was nudging the limiter.
Don't believe the speedo.

My factory speedo was 11% off on my kawi.

On stock gearing I highly doubt you'd see a true 180 on these bikes. Rev limiter will kick in well before that.

Got to agree - Top for my 03 Z1K was 170 but I doubt it was a true 170 MPH. My 1977 930 Porsche will do an acual 190 MHP! But where can I do it here in the USA?

from the factory the speedo will be off by 10-15%.

I always wondered how they would compare to my 03 zx9r. the z1000 is my favorite looking naked bike, but I'm still in love wtih the zx9. Maybe someday.

id the speedo isn't reliable...normally with all the goodies installed, the Z must be able to do something of a real 170mph (with right gearing a bit more probally), a few French superroadster series pilots had some tests on Spa and they were able to follow the R1's and 1000K6's, only on the fast section they had to let go but that is something round 189mph.
A friend of mine is busy tuning his spare engine to the limit, more info next season
